Sorry we’re closed

It’s been a great ride but the time has come to finish running skills courses. I’m certainly not stopping riding bikes, in fact I’ll probably be going for more rides now. There will also be events coming and a good video every now and again. More details on these projects will go up on the Great Rock social media: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Thanks to the hundreds of people who have come along to Great Rock skills courses in the sunshine and the rain. It’s been great fun and I feel privileged to have been able to work outdoors, doing something that I love. It’s been ace to work with fellow mountain bikers and play a part in seeing them progress.

From now I will be concentrating my working life on HebTroCo, the trouser company that I founded alongside Brant Richards. The company has grown faster than we could have dreamed possible and we now both need to focus on the project full time.

Ride Free

love Ed

What’s going on at Great Rock?

It’s been a busy year so far with lots of changes….

I’m taking bookings now for the Stop Crashing 1 and 2 courses at Gisburn Forest as well as the Alpine Tech course in Hebden Bridge. These courses are at weekends and are open group days running from 9.30 to 3.30. Cost is £85 per person for a day.

I’m also doing a day and a half during the week for private 1 to 1 or group bookings. These are usually run in Hebden Bridge and sometimes also use the great Hurstwood trail. Half days cost from £110 for a 1 to 1.

There are a couple of places left for the second week of the Backcountry Pyrenees Skills Trip.

This year I started a clothing brand with Brant Richards called HebTroCo. We sell trousers made in Hebden Bridge using the moleskin and corduroy fabrics that the area is famous for. Starting up a new business from scratch has been a big undertaking and has dominated the year. Before you ask, no we are not making cycling trousers! Great Rock continues alongside the new venture and new course dates continue to be added. Please get in contact if you want to book a private half day or full day.

Must be time for a new film

The last one was adventureNOW released back in the spring. It’s always fun making sweet media with Andy from Go-Where and Tim Whitenosugar

The project was made possible by Sweet Protection who sponsor both Andy and myself with their fantastic range of helmets, clothing, knee pads and Rad bits and bobs.

Right then. What are we going to do next?

A great email published in the latest MBUK from one of our guests who came on the Backcountry Pyrenees skills trip back in October. As he says here, he re-booked to come again straight away.

It’s always sunny in Hebden Bridge

You might have seen something about Hebden Bridge getting flooded on the news. Southern propaganda I say, it’s always sunny here. Come and see for yourself (just wait until after Friday when the pub re-opens)
