Course Description

This is a 3 day guided riding trip of high quality northern mountain biking, based in the famous Pennine town of Hebden Bridge. You will ride the local Hebden Bridge trails, including one day with van uplift, as well as heading out on one day to do a big ride in the Lake District.

In 2014 the Tour de France passed through Hebden Bridge, just inches away from some of the best mountain biking in the country. These Northern Rock tours offer the chance to get to know some of the hidden gems that the tour flashed past. Great Rock has been established in this area for 7 years now running skills courses and guiding as well as running riding holidays abroad.

The Great Rock local area has so much to offer in terms of riding, eating and good times and we thought that it was time to celebrate our own area, and run a high quality tour to compliment the trips we do in the Basque Country and the Backcountry Pyrenees.

The price includes 3 nights accommodation with bike wash facilities and a place to lock up bikes. Accommodation is in Croft Mill, a fantastic converted mill in the middle of town, right at the centre of the best riding, pubs and cafes which will be our playground. We only go to the best places and this is a chance to really get to know this buzzing centre of bike culture as well as getting a chance to do one of our favourite Lake District rides.

Itinerary

Day 0. Arrive and sleep in style.

Day 1. Wake up in Hebden Bridge and ride the trails, have lunch in a great cafe, enjoy a well earned pint or coffee and then shower and chill in the top quality apartment before going out to eat in the town.

Day 2. You and your bike will be driven up into the Lake District to do a big fun ride. Depending on conditions we will either do a big Lakes pass or stay more sheltered on a lower level epic. We will either take food or use a cafe for lunch.

Day 3. After breakfast we will ride from the door again on some of Hebden’s fun and techy trails. This day will be more laid back and we will be using the van to give us a couple of uplifts.

Who is this trip aimed at? This is not a skills course, although we will session a couple of sections of trail to make sure you’re getting the most out of your riding. This is a 3 day guided riding trip on some of the Great Rock local favourites. It’s for people who want to get off the beaten track and explore some great natural mountain biking. If you ride fairly regularly and are confident on red grade trail centre trails as well as being able to cope with the occasional black grade feature you will be fine. A reasonable level of fitness will be an advantage but it is not a race and we are going to be going out for smiles not just smashing out miles. We will be out all day on our bikes covering between 25 and 45km depending on which day it is. You will need a good quality mountain bike in full working order, but you’ve already got that! Now it’s time to use it.

Price includes guiding, 3 nights accommodation and transport to the Lakes and back and uplift on the final day. All meals and drinks are extra. The apartment has a kitchen with good food in it for you to make your breakfast. There are also plenty of cafes in town if you want someone else to make your coffee.
