Pedals of the Year
12 Dec
Without doubt my favourite pedals, the DMR Vaults combine everything that I want in a flat pedal. 400g for the pair, big platform, very grippy, strong, easy to maintain, slim and available in lots of colours. I’ve been running a green pair for a year with no problems, they’re ready for new bearings now. However they’re just not going to match the new frame I’ve got coming so here is a new black pair. These are re-designed slightly with re-profiled ribs to make them more resistant to impact. If you compare them side on to my green ones, you can see the ribs get thicker as they taper towards the axle.

Hey there Ed! You know if the redesign has been prompted by observed failures, or more of a precautionary thing?
(Happy user of the Vaults here myself, just wondering if I should worry enough about this to get a new pair…).
cheers!

Here’s the reply from DMR
“Hi Ed
An opportunity came up to modify the profile extrusion tool so we slightly thickened the ‘root’ of the spokes as a couple of the team had managed to bend pedals doing [massive!]dirt jumping..
It only added a few grams but makes a difference to the strength for more extreme use, we also slightly changed the pin positions in plan to help to this end also.
So a couple of subtle changes to improve durability.”
