Course Description
Stop Crashing 2 builds on the basics of the Level 1 course and introduces the important skills of weighting and unweighting the bike as well as starting to safely get the wheels off the ground in a step by step way.
Much of our time time on this course is spent learning to pump the trail, through rollers and round corners. This is the technique of generating speed and control using the dips and rises in the trail. It’s also how you keep your momentum and even increase it without pedalling. Here’s a quick video about pump technique.
Using the Blue and Red grade trails, this course will help riders to ride berms, singletrack, tight corners and rocky sections with more control, speed and flow.
With a feeling for how to pump the trail comes the potential to get the wheels off the ground in a controlled and light way. We build up the skill by learning to first to manual the front wheel up, then do rear wheel lifts. It’s surprising how many people try to achieve these techniques in the completely opposite way to the easiest and most efficient! A few tips and tricks can make all the difference. There is plenty of time to practice by riding on the trails and by applying the new skills you’ll find your riding will become smoother, more in control and faster.
