Course Description
Stop Crashing 1 is the fundamental mountain biking skills course. Build or regain lost confidence. Stop being a passenger on the bike and start getting some flow on the trails. It’s for those who have been riding for years as well as newer mountain bikers. Most people have bad habits or are missing some of the basics. Most riders are off centre on the bike, brake in the wrong way and have learnt to hang off the bike rather than take control. Get these basics set and then progress to enjoy riding faster and safer.
Here’s a quick video about cornering.
Learning to trackstand is a technique that is essential for bike control, whether for slow speed control or faster cornering. It’s not just about being able to stand still at the traffic lights! Getting comfortable with the bike at a standstill and learning to use weight shift is also the key to going fast and steering.
We go round corners more than anything else when riding and if you get it right it’s one of the best feelings you can have on the bike. Learn why ‘get off the back’ is the worst advice you’ve ever been given! Learn to ride berms properly as well as flat, off camber and tight corners.
Great Rock days are relaxed and fun with plenty of time spent riding. We start by developing good body position out on the blue graded trails at and then riding more technical reds. We look at braking, looking ahead, staying relaxed and riding with flow. Much of our time is spent getting to grips with good active body position as the bike goes up, over and down the features of the trail.
