Become more awesome for less than the cost of those fancy carbon bars you’ve been coveting! You’ve got the bike, now it’s time to upgrade yourself. So where do you start?
Start at the beginning and do them all, do two together or just pick one. Most people, including those who have been riding for years, as well as newer mountain bikers, will benefit from doing the fundamentals of Stop Crashing 1 first. Be honest, weed out the bad habits and get the most out of the bike that you spent all that money on!
- Starting Out – A specially designed day for new mountain bikers looking to build confidence and start progressing their riding. As beginners we get given some terrible advice. This day aims to bust the myths and give you some plain English advice that works. We also have a look at your bike set up and can give advice on what colour shorts to wear this season!
- Stop Crashing 1 – Learn a dynamic, balanced body position. Use brakes properly. Ride with more control and speed on blue and red grade trails. Proper cornering technique in berms, flat corners and tight turns. Ride slippery as well as off camber sections and learn how to tame roots. Learning to track stand properly is probably the most important mountain bike skill and allows us to use weight shift effectively in our riding. If you can’t do this, do this course first. If you stick your bum off the back on descents, do this course first and learn why this was the worst bit of advice you were ever given!
- Stop Crashing 2 – Build on the fundamentals of SC1, develop your cornering, weight shift and footwork. Learn the art of pumping the trail for speed and stability on all surfaces. Ride more technical red grade trails faster and learn how to do manuals and rear wheel lifts and apply them on real world trails with an introduction to riding drop offs.
When you’ve got the right body position, can pump the trail properly, and cary speed out of berms and other corners think about progressing to the next level…..
- Jumps for Dads (mums also welcome) Stop doing ‘shit hops’ and learn how to get some proper pop. Learn to take off and even land! Start flying over the trail rather than smashing through it. Apply the flow to trails with proper bunny hopping and then start jumping. This is a more advanced course
- Alpine Tech Run on natural trails in Hebden Bridge with less predictable trail surfaces, bigger rocks, steep slopes, more line choice and steep Alpine / Pyrenees style switchback corners. This is a natural tech course and doesn’t include berms or jumps. This is a more advanced course
